My son played in the playpen as I sat for 12 hours in sanding floors and removing wallpaper. Ha! The house was getting closer to finishing, but it was still a long distance to go. For this project I was ready to spend a considerable amount of money and time shopping for my dream home. My three sons and I were looking for the hidden treasures attending estate sales in order to keep my spending under control. Every week, we spent Thursday to Saturday at garage sales and estate sales buying brand new furniture. Then I stenciled and polished in the driveway in the week. It was kind of like this... Here is where my obsession with restoring antique furniture started. After our home was finished, I didn't want to put it down! There was a spot on the market in town in which I sold my items. Eventually I had more pieces that I knew what to do with and had outgrown the space. In my own home, I would host open houses in which more than 1,000 people were able to come in and buy any item they wanted on the first floor within a single weekend. Growing Days was founded in my home. When my business grew, so did our little family. Finding the balance was important to me. I wished to be a mom as well as a business owner who was successful. Growing Days seemed like the ideal match. The year 2013 was the year my daughter Nora became our fourth child. My company was doing well but I wanted a rest. I decided to slow down and spend some time at home, with my kids. It was just what I wanted. After a while, off the phone started to ring. I started receiving requests from people requesting for help in home improvement and design of interiors. A majority of them came into my residence at my open house for furniture. I began to take on clients at a time taking my time but it wasn't too long before I had multiple accounts and was running the complete business of home remodeling. There is a good chance that I would have laughed if somebody had informed me that my company was to become the premise of an upcoming TV show in the DIY Network. Indeed, I am laughing at times when I think of the story.
