April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July, started taking lessons on piano and guitar at seven years old. The passion for songwriting was awakened. April Lockhart composed her first song, Different at the age 12 years old. At 14 years old, April was spending a lot of time writing lyrics and perfecting her musicianship skills. Over the next few months, she began taking notes with her father to LA and NY. April included other subjects in her track, Take my Hand. These topics included topics for her friends who dealt with issues such as peer pressure and disabilities, or even teenage suicidal thinking. Lockhart is a partner at the well-known Clean Beauty brand Ilia as well as an influencer in the lifestyle industry who has a growing fan base. Lockhart was never born with a left-hand, which is what makes her who she is. However, that's not the full story. So, Lockhart's Instagram account doesn't shy away from her disabilities, yet it's not focused on it either. What is the message? There is more to us than the physical person we are. The identities we have are complex and we contain many different dimensions. I don't want that to define me I don't wish to become a disability influencer where that's all I talk about because there are many different elements to me Lockhart speaks via video from her house in Nashville. However, it doesn't affect my everyday life. I do the things I normally would and have adapted to my disability. It's an integral element of my life and it's imperative that we talk about the subject. Self-acceptance can be a marathon for a lifetime but Lockhart is a true inspiration for this aspect. Still, she admits that she went through a few phases with her physique, feeling uncomfortable in certain situations wearing clothes that showed her arms. She dresses according to her preferences and proudly posts pictures of herself dressed in outfits she picks out on social platforms. What makes self-love so appealing to her is that it's not an end place to go. But I think that's for everyone, whatever the source of their anxiety. I believe having friends with you who know you and see the depths of your soul is vital since they'll be those that remind you of what are you worrying about?
